Following ITM’s news from November 27th which speculated on whether Brazilian baile funk trio Bonde Do Role would make it to Australia for their schedule summer tour, an official announcement has now been made that they’ll no longer be heading down under.
It’s unfortunate news for fans of the wildly eclectic group, who have aroused quite a bit of interest in 2007 off the back of their acclaimed debut album ‘With Lazers’, as they were set to be a highlight act of several NYE/NYD festivals.
Rodrigo Gorky of the band recent told BBC Radio 1’s Annie Mac of tension in the band, revealing that it had led to them cancelling several shows. “We are having internal problems,” he stated. “We are trying to sort things out but meanwhile we are just going to have to cancel some of the shows… We are sorting things out right now.”
Cancelled Bonde Do Role tour dates:
Dec 30 – Falls Festival, Victoria
Dec 31 – Falls Festival, Tasmania
Jan 1 – Field Day, Sydney
Jan 3 – Rocket Bar, Adelaide
Jan 5 – Southbound, Western Australia
Jan 8 – Prince Bandroom, Melbourne
Jan 9 – The Zoo, Brisbane
Jan 10 – Beck’s Bar, Sydney
Stay tuned to ITM for updates.
