With the memories of their energetic headline shows at the 2009 Future Music Festival still fresh in our minds – check out the pics from their Sydney headline show for proof! – we won’t have to wait too much longer to get another taste of legendary UK dance act Basement Jaxx.
In an interview with Pete Tong on his BBC Radio 1 Essential Selection program Felix Buxton of the duo said the album, titled Scars, is finished and in the process of being mastered. It will be their fifth studio album to date, and it has a proposed release date of late May/early June. “It’s all good,” Felix told Radio 1. “It was all being mastered when we came out to Colombia a few days ago, so it should all be solidifying at the moment.”
Felix also spoke of the album’s guests, revealing they’ve once again lined up a diverse array of vocalists including Yoko Ono, Santigold, Lightspeed Champion and Yo! Majesty, and he recounted road-testing their new tracks on their tour of Australia last month. “Just before this, we were in Australia and the new tracks went down really well,” he said.
