Future Music Festival blasts off

After waiting about half a year for the festival’s massive bill of artists to make it down to Australia, Future Music Festival finally got under way this weekend with the first two festivals blowing up in Brisbane and Perth.

While the weather gods were not on the side of the festival going masses in Brisbane, the rain and mud didn’t seem to dampen anyone’s spirits from the looks of ITM’s photo coverage, with punters letting loose in the slush while their favourite bands and DJs provided the epic soundtrack.

It was a day for all comers, with superstar DJs like Steve Angello and Sven Vath throwing down bombs all day, while the indie-dance set got their fix from the likes of The Presets and MGMT. And believe it or not there have been zero reports of Ke$ha being bottled.

Of course the crown jewel of the festival tour is UK legends The Chemical Brothers and as well as their headline sets at the festival the ‘Chems also pulled sideshow duty up north over the weekend, taking their stonkingly good new live show to Riverstage along with Zane Lowe and Art vs. Science. From the looks of the gallery below The Chemical Brothers are still at the top of their game.

The ‘Chems weren’t the only Future artists doing sideshow duty with acts on very different ends of the spectrum going out on their own including Los Angeles electro pin-up Steve Aoki who hit up Wollongong to a rapturous welcome. Scope out the pics below and you’ll likely see your monitor start to sweat up along with the raving crowd.

Likewise Dizzee Rascal did his one and only solo show for the tour down in Canberra with a motley crew of supports including Tai and Belgium riot squad The Subs. Things only kicked on from there with Aoki following on from his gig in the ‘Gong to play the Dizzee after-party and of course we were on hand to capture the action.

Stay tuned for our Perth Future Music Festival photos and more action all this week!

Why the f*#ck would you want to pay good money to dance in a mud filled field all day with 20,000 other screaming people.

Looked enjoyable, as Oscar Wild said, "youth is wasted on the young".
