DJ Mag drip-feeding 150-101 in DJ Poll

As contentious as the yearly results might be, there’s no denying the interest that builds around the DJ Mag Top 100 DJs poll. There’s a new #1 set to unseat David Guetta in 2012 (we’re still not sure if that means an entirely ‘new’ winner, or a returning poll hero like Armin van Buuren or Tiesto), and the past 12 months have been especially strong for big names like Swedish House Mafia and Avicii. As DJ Mag builds toward the announcement of the Top 100 this Friday at Amsterdam Dance Event, they’ve started a slow reveal of the DJs voted #150-#101.

Queensland’s own The Stafford Brothers have polled at #140, ahead of an Australian summer that sees them touring with Future Music Festival. With a residency at Marquee Las Vegas and a slot this weekend at London’s iconic Ministry Of Sound alongside Roger Sanchez, the duo’s profile is certainly trebling in 2012. The other reveals so far include Stereosonic-bound tech-houser Joris Voorn at #148 and Sidney Samson and Kyau & Albert dropping out of the Top 100. We’ll keep updating the list below if the poll is something you like to keep tabs on.

On Friday night, the new #1 will be flying by private jet to DJ at two parties running simultaneously – the first at Amsterdam Convention Factory for ADE and then Ministry Of Sound in London. The ADE line-up includes Hardwell, Arty, Sander van Doorn and R3hab, while over in London there’s Markus Schulz, Thomas Gold, Orjan Nilsen and Sean Tyas.

From those support casts, we’re going to take a punt at Armin van Buuren reclaiming the top spot in 2012. Unless DJ Mag is throwing out a red herring, we can’t see Guetta, Afrojack, Avicii or ‘not a f*#king DJ’ Deadmau5 meshing comfortably with those line-ups. Or maybe it’s Above & Beyond’s year to jump from #5 to #1…

We’ll keep updating right here…

Obviously the top 20 voted DJ's are the richest but I wonder how much some of these DJ's say in the 90-150 mark would make a year..

Fatboy Slim & The Stafford Brothers should be in the top20, the list is rigged

I dont think you guys realise how many 'hardstyle' DJs will be in the top 100 - you've been warned!

Sven Vath, Hernan Cattaneo & Roger Sanchez not even making the top 100?!?!
this isn't going to end well :|

lawlietskyy said on the 18th Oct, 2012

@DJpractice - I dont think you understand that there's nothing 'hard' about today's 'hardstyle' DJ's aka. Cheesestyle DJ's

Wowk said on the 18th Oct, 2012

The fact that Zabiela is at 123 basically says it all about this poll. I shudder to think where Ben Sims or Laurent Garnier placed.

I think America's 'EDM' experts (ie US kids who discovered dance music this year via Avicii) will have a big influence on poll standings this year
be afraid.....

djpractice said on the 19th Oct, 2012

lawlietskyy - trust me, I know all about the cheesestyle DJs who bill themselves as 'hardstyle' - has been giving me the shits since late 2007!!! Luckily there is a tiny bit of stuff I like still ;)

i am officially not paying attention to this anymore after seeing these results

Mal_X_mas_03 said on the 19th Oct, 2012

Ummm, what a effn joke..Hernan and Zabiela outside the top 100...
The Fact that the Stafford Brothers are even on this list detroys all credibility of this poll...

BT is a pretty terrible DJ so no surprises there. Saw him play at Avalon while I was in Singapore and we left after 20 minutes of DJ'ing mediocrity. The resident DJ completely showed him up!

Kb75 said on the 19th Oct, 2012

DJ Mag's list is a joke. I can't believe Zabieia is at 123 and oakie is 69 , shouldn't that be reversed? Deadmus5 and Avicii are not DJs. It really time to split the list from real DJs to EDM acts

wtf why is kutski not up there ? or the organ donors ??
