An ear-pleasing James Zabiela mix for you

It’s been over a year since UK dynamo James Zabiela uploaded the second chapter of his mix series, ‘Paradigm Shifts’, to Soundcloud. Now comes part three, another 30-minute journey into bass music, house and electronica, cut together with the DJ’s distinctive atmospherics. As Zabiela writes: “As some of you know I started a mix in May 2011 called ‘Paradigm Shifts’ which was an ongoing mix that I intended to add new parts to over a period of time. This idea was quite a well received concept and even helped gain me a Resident Advisor Podcast. You can hear the strains of the last track (Scuba – Adrenalin) in the opening of this new part because it was the last track on the previous mix. If people keep enjoying these I will continue to add.”

‘Paradigm Shifts Pt 3’ comes in the afterglow of another relentless Northern summer for the DJ. The standout achievement has been the launch of his label Born Electric, welcomed with a new Zabiela production, The Healing (set to be remixed by Sasha and included on the Involver 3 compilation). He also returned to Ibiza’s We Love…Sundays at Space for another year with a Born Electric residency, culminating in a huge Closing Fiesta starring Modeselektor, Shackleton and Simian Mobile Disco alongside Zabs in the Discoteca. Throughout the season, he also invited Scuba, Midland and Appleblim, which gives a good snapshot of where he’s at musically.

Then of course there were the festival sets – at Creamfields, Kazantip, Monegros, Beatpatrol and more – that exercised his peaktime skills. Somewhere in amongst all his activity, Zabiela also managed to turn out a remix for Hot Chip. Now, time for some ‘Paradigm Shifts’.
