ITM reported earlier this year that German dance legend DJ Hell would be returning to Australia before the end of 2009, and it has come to fruition with the news that he’ll be bringing ‘A night of International Deejay Gigolos’ to Sydney, Melbourne and Perth this October. It’ll be a tour that aims to properly capture the spirit of Hell’s trailblazing record label of the same name.
To add an extra dash of special to the proceedings, Hell will be joined in Sydney and Melbourne by International Deejay Gigolos’ sole Australian signing Kikumoto Allstars (check out ITM’s recent interview). Known by his family as Cam Farrar and hailing originally from Melbourne, he released his debut album House Music earlier this year, a release that channeled the spirit of early Chicago house.
DJ Hell himself will be coming off the back of a particularly massive year, having released his Teufelswerk album to oodles of critical acclaim, with The Guardian in the UK hailing it as “one of the most ambitious and cogent dance music albums of, well, all time. Seriously.” High praise indeed! Check out ITM’s review for a more detailed rundown.
DJ Hell’s “A night of International Deejay Gigolos” national tour:
Friday Oct 16 – Prince Bandroom, Melbourne
Saturday Oct 17 – Metro Theatre, Sydney
Saturday Oct 24 – Villa, Perth
