Two of the brightest and youngest bright young things (get that?) on the Australian dance radar are Shazam and Cassian, solo producers with a fondness for electro and disco classics and a shared label home at Bang Gang 12 Inches.

Putting the ‘two heads are better than one’ theory to the test, both production whipper snappers are teaming up for a tasty new side project according to Shazam himself.

“I’ve actually just been in the studio doing some new stuff with Cassian from Sydney,” Shazam told inthemix recently. “We’ve been working on a couple of tracks together and he came out to Perth this week to do some more serious stuff. We work really well together. I think we kinda bounce off each other and throw around different ideas that the other person might not normally go to.”

Speaking about the direction that the team-up project will take, Shazam explained that the eventual release will take a strong “house” bent.

“I think we’re going to look at doing a sort of more house-based project together…a bit more clubby than both of our stuff,” he offered. “It all started as good fun and now it’s something bigger and something that we’ll release under a new name together.”

As the duo continue working on material for their super-pairing, both producers have business of their own to attend to with Cassian dropping his latest EP, I Like What You’re Doing, on BG12s this month and Shazam wrapping up duties on the Future Music Festival tour this coming weekend. Stay tuned.
