Preparing for a DJ tour of Australia this February, UNKLE mastermind James Lavelle is also set to release his band’s newest album in May. The DJ has teamed up with Pablo Clements of the Psychonauts, and has also recruited Mark Lanegan; former frontman of grunge godfathers the Screaming Trees.
The newest addition to the UNKLE discography will be called Where Did the Night Fall, and talking with BBC 6 Music recently Lavelle said that he doesn’t feel as though 2010 has truly begun because the record is not yet finished. “We were hoping to start [the year] with a finished record… it doesn’t feel like the beginning of the year yet,” he said. “It’s got to be mastered next week otherwise we’re just not going to get it out in the timeframe we need to.”
Lavelle also revealed that he has plans for the band to tour as much as possible during 2010 and also hinted at the sound of the new album, describing it as “different from the last one” – 2007’s War Stories – and a bit “more electronic”.
