Last seen curveballing fans with their ambiguous fourth album Seventh Tree, UK duo Goldfrapp have been busy working on film scores, adding some spice to Christina Aguilera’s next schmaltz-fest and weirding out 2008’s Parklife legion. But in amongst all that activity the pair of Will Gregory and golden-voiced Alison Goldfrapp have been working on their next opus, Head First, seemingly getting their chic electro groove back in the process.
The first taste of Head First has been revealed over the weekend, with the band leaking the album’s first single, the appropriately titled Rocket, and it sits neatly in between the duo’s Black Cherry material and some far out Commodore 64-inspired synth jam. Check it out in the clip below.
A worldwide release date for Head First has been set for March 22nd, and though it narrowly missed out on a spot on ITM’s massive Most Anticipated Albums of 2010 countdown, it looks like one record we’ll be holding out for.
