After a string of forward thinking records filled with challenging electro-jams about love, hate and golden showers – not to mention the freaky Fever Ray side project from singer Karin Driejer Andersson – Swedish duo The Knife are no strangers to the unexpected. Yet with their latest work they’ve truly outdone themselves.
Recorded alongside collaborators Mt. Sims and Planningtorock The Knife’s latest musical journey is the much-buzzed-about Tomorrow, In A Year, their attempt at scoring an opera on Charles Darwin’s Origin Of The Species. Like we said; unexpected.
But as with everything they do, The Knife somehow manage to make all the craziness work, and Tomorrow, In A Year stands tall as a shining example of where electronic music can be pushed if the person behind it is as inventive and creative as The Knife.
But don’t just take our word for it, you can hear the whole thing (that’s two discs of genre blurring ambition) right here on inthemix before local legends etcetc release it later this week. Pretty awesome, right? Have The Knife have one-upped themselves with Tomorrow, In A Year? Hit up the links below to hear it all, because trust us, this is a record that needs to be heard to be believed.
