In case you were living under a rock in 2010, French dance legends Daft Punk dropped their first studio release in some five years with Tron Legacy, the soundtrack to the Disney 3D film of the same name. Yeah, it was a pretty big deal.
For a while now we’ve heard rumblings of a second release around Daft Punk’s Tron Legacy score and today the news has broken that part two of sorts will be a remix album featuring a mega-sized list of dance music producers from all corners of the EDM scene.
Taking Daft Punk’s startlingly orchestral soundtrack and re-gearing it for the dance floor on the aptly titled Tron Legacy R3C0NF1GUR3D (that’s Reconfigured in case you don’t speak tween-text) will be a surprising cast of remixers including Moby, Paul Oakenfold, Kaskade, The Crystal Method, Pretty Lights, M83, Photek and Boys Noize.
Looking at the tracklisting it’s apparent that some material not found on the original soundtrack is up for the remix treatment and a squizz at TronSoundtrack.com reveals there’s a bonus EP of unreleased material from Daft Punk’s score also up for grabs come April 18th when R3C0NF1GUR3D is released internationally.
Daft Punk’s Tron Legacy R3C0NF1GUR3D tracklisting:
01 The Glitch Mob: “Derezzed”
02 M83 vs. Big Black Delta: “Fall”
03 The Crystal Method: “The Grid/Game Has Changed”
04 Teddybears: “Adagio for Tron”
05 Ki:Theory: “The Son of Flynn”
06 Paul Oakenfold: “C.L.U.”
07 Moby: “The Son of Flynn”
08 Boys Noize: “End of Line (Boys Noize Remix)”
09 Kaskade: “Rinzler”
10 Com Truise: “Enron Part II”
11 Photek: “End of Line”
12 The Japanese Popstars: “Arena”
13 Avicii: “Derezzed”
14 Pretty Lights: “Solar Sailor”
15 Sander Kleinenberg: “Tron Legacy (End Titles)”
Here’s a couple of videos of Boys Noize playing suspected Tron remixes, the first of which definitely sounds like End Of Line.
And perhaps the crown jewel of ITM’s Tron Legacy coverage…
